Matt McCain

Matt is a copywriter/CD in Seattle. After 15 years at WongDoody, his portfolio is stocked with all kinds of killer projects for Amazon (above), Seattle Seahawks, Subway, Horizon Air, Tobacco Quit Line, and the LA Dodgers. Dying to know what it was like working with the one and only Gary Busey. Crazzeee.

UPDATE: Vlad Ivangorodsky

Since his last post on MC, New York art director/creative director Vlad Ivangorodsky has gone full-time freelance and has added a bunch of new work to his site, including the above GoDaddy spot for Barton F. Graf 9000 (that almost made the Super Bowl). Always love posting Vlad’s site up on MC, even though he’s not officially a copywriter. Good ideas are good ideas are good ideas.

Intern Team Wanted: R/GA, Austin

Chris Cima, Creative Director at R/GA in Austin, is looking for an intern creative team. From Chris: “R/GA Austin is on the hunt for an intern creative team. We’re looking for both a writer and designer/art director. We’re willing to build a team from two solo badasses or if we find a pre-built team that has a great book, even better. The plan is to make this team an active part of our creative department and get them on real projects to see what they can do with enough guidance to keep their heads from exploding.” Love it. Lyndsey Tonyan

Way back in January 2014, MC featured Lyndsey’s portfolio in a list of Chicago Portfolio School grads. Here we are, one year later, and Lyndsey’s friend and fellow CW Audrey Hansen has re-submitted her portfolio to MC for an update. (Big ups, Audrey. Love that.) Six tight campaigns and some beautiful typography in her portfolio, including one for the Department of Health and DARE, above, that MC would be all over if it existed. Fun.

UPDATE: Chris Hancock

Been about a year since Chris’s last update on MC. Since then, he’s moved back to San Francisco and freelanced for Pereira O’dell, Camp+King, Muhtayzik Hoffer, Mekanism, and others. (Um, nice list there, geez.) So much great writing all over his site. This is a fun one.

Kevin Zengel

Kevin is a copywriter at Disney’s Yellow Shoes Creative Group in Orlando, Florida. Lots of magical work all over his site (sorry, had to), including awesome animated gifs for Star Wars Weekends at Walt Disney World Resort (above, be sure to read the captions). Also, don’t miss his site for agency RSQ, “Helping you sell shit since 1977.” Nice.

Kerry Skiles

Kerry is a copywriter/CD in Raleigh-Durham, North Carolina. She’s also a good friend/former agency comrade of MC, from all the way back when Arnold had a San Francisco shop. (Was it really that long ago?) So happy to have her posted up, at last. Dig it.

Tim Gillingham

Tim is a freelance copywriter/CD in Minneapolis. Over the past 20 years, he’s worked at shops like Fallon, Carmichael, Arnold, Burnett, and Saatchi (geez), on more awesome accounts than MC can list here. Don’t miss his classic campaigns for Citi Simplicity Card and the VW Beetle, including the above spot “Squares.” Brilliant.

CW Wanted: Sleek Machine, Boston

This is so cool. Tim Cawley, copywriter/CD featured on MC (back on 06.07.10), is now Co-founder/Chief Creative Officer of Sleek Machine in Boston—and he’s on the hunt for a copywriter. From Tim:

“Sleek Machine is a creatively-driven startup agency in Boston co-founded by Chief Creative Officer Tim Cawley (a formerly MC-featured writer whose portfolio blog you can see here: http://timcawley.blogspot.com.

Sleek Machine is looking for an entrepreneurial, optimistic, prolific, relentless, responsible, conceptually rock-solid copywriter. Someone with 3-8 years experience. Want someone who can generate exciting ideas, regardless of medium. Someone who sees opportunity in everything – from cushy, boondoggle-y TV production, to the no-budget social media post. You can get a sense of our venture here: sleekmachine.com.

National accounts in a range of categories. Fast-paced, productive, tight-knit environment. You will definitely produce book-worthy, real work for real brands.”
