MC Faves Week 3 – Andrew Ault

Andrew is VP ECD at NBCUniversal/ECD of Integrated Media. Check out his rez: CP+B, WK, JWT, Leagas, Fallon. Then check out his work. Then maybe cry a little. Then feel better. Then cry a little more.

MC Faves Week 3 – Andy Kadin

Andy is a copywriter in Los Angeles. He has magic writing powers that MC doesn’t have: he can write awesome lyrics. Check out the first video on his site, Prius Goes Plural, and the last, for Google Offers. Love ‘em. So much other great work up on his site, too. Plus the site itself is rad. Winner.

MC Faves Week 3 – Grant Smith

Grant is a senior creative director at BBDO NY, and who knows if he’s had the time or need to update his portfolio site in awhile. MC doesn’t care. The writing in Print + OOH (Red Stripe) and More TV (FedEx) is so genius, Grant can now add MC Faves Week 3 to his list of accomplishments, right between London International and Radio Mercury. Or maybe not.

MC Faves Week 2 – Lawson Clarke

Can’t have an MC Faves category without featuring Lawson’s site: Male Copywriter. It’s a copywriter portfolio site that actually went viral.

MC Faves Week 2 – Shane Hutton

1. Discovery, “Holy crap. Shane’s portfolio is awesome.” 2. Jealousy, “I wish that spot was on MY reel.” 3. Self-doubt, “I am an average writer.” 4. Copywriting, “Oh, yeah? I’ll show them.”

MC Faves Week 2 – Evan Fry

Evan’s site is an MC Fave for one reason: what’s in it. Start clicking through his portfolio and you’ll see what I’m talking about. It’s just like, “Oh that Twelpforce thing. And that Spike Jonze GAP spot. And that Victors & Spoils agency. And that …”

MC Faves Week 2 – Wade Paschall

There are two things MC especially likes about Wade’s site. First, the CW/CD split org. So simple. Second, the writing in his Print as Writer section (hover over arrow in upper right hand corner of homepage to reveal nav). Beautiful.

MC Faves Week – Pioneer-Plaque

How about we end the week in Paris? Luissandro Del Gobbo has created a site with CD/creative partner Giovanni Settesoldi – both are CDs at Grey Paris – that is out of this world. Not only is the site amazing, but it’s filled with some of the most spectacular visual concept campaigns you’ll see anywhere.

MC Faves Week – Alex Has Been Busy

Alexandra Tyler’s site is a fabulous example of how to do a blog portfolio right. Blogs (done right) can be amazing, living portraits of copywriters as artists and craftspeople – displaying process, voice, ideas, creative madness, in such a personal way. After visiting Alex’s site, you know she’s an great copywriter, no doubt. But you also catch her vibe as a creative human being. So cool.

MC Faves Week – Kash Sree’s Sketchpad

Kash Sree’s site is before and after, sketched and designed, funny and serious, copywriter and CD. How to best show the latter is something MC is asked about a lot, especially by freelance copywriter/CDs who need to show potential clients they can write. Don’t miss Kash’s Awards page, which is just sick. And his Influences page, which is brilliant.

MC Faves Week – Yutaka Sucks

Yutaka has two sites on MC. This was the first – his older site. It’s called Yutaka Sucks and it’s the funniest portfolio site MC has ever seen. The writing is off-the-charts. Delivering campaign information via the testimonials of co-workers who are describing how bad Yutaka sucks is flat-out super-brilliant.

MC Faves Week – MacDonald’s

Matt MacDonald was recently named ECD of JWT New York. Check out his resume page. He graduated from college last week or something. Unbelievable. I reference Matt’s site a lot when I’m doing portfolio reviews. His About pages are just about perfect.
