Lane Mitchell

Lane is a copywriter/ACD at Critical Mass in NYC, formerly at mcgarrybowen, Digitas, Hill Holiday, and FCB. Like many writers, he’s done some interesting stuff on the side, too. Like being Editor of Capital, a lifestyle magazine for the financial services industry. You can click through an issue in the Editorial section of Lane’s site. Very cool.

Rob Jamieson

Rob is a copywriter/CD on IBM at Ogilvy in NYC. His whole portfolio (minus one campaign) is IBM and it rocks. Some people worry about working too long on one brand. But if it’s an awesome brand, and you make awesome work, what’s better than that?

Jeremy Chin

Jeremy is a West Coast freelance copywriter. He shares a site with NYC-based AD Marcio Kelmanson. Every once in a while, MC finds a site that just kicks our collective ass. This is one of those. The ideas are stellar. The writing is awesome. The art direction is beautiful.

Kathleen Tax

Kathleen is a copywriter/ACD at DDB Chicago. Someday, MC is going to move to Chicago just to see what a real TV commercial budget feels like. We’re guessing pretty nice. Great to see some Chicago sites starting to come MC’s way.

Geoff McCartney

Geoff is a copywriter/CD/VP at DDB in Chicago. His portfolio is sick, especially the writing. And that includes work for clients one might not consider “sick” creative opportunities. Just goes to show. Tip ‘o the hat, Mr. McCartney.

Craig Miller (Chicago)

Craig is a copywriter/CD in Chicago. (Not to be confused with Craig Miller at CP+B.) On his home page, you’ll find a personal manifesto of sorts – Craig’s likes, dislikes and beliefs. Including this: “Ellipses in headlines are my kryptonite.” Couldn’t agree more, sir.

Dov Zmood

Dov is a copywriter/ACD at Ogilvy in NYC. Over the past ten years, he’s also done time at R/GA, FCB, TBWA, and JWT Melbourne. His site is loaded with awesome work, and a ton of it. Lots of which MC hadn’t seen before, like the above campaign for Maxwell House. Yawning IS ugly.

Carol Saraiva

Carol is a copywriter in São Paulo, Brazil. Sometimes you see an ad or a spot and you think to yourself, “How the heck have I not thought of doing that before?” Check out Carol’s Crazy About Ketchup spot for Hellman’s. How the heck have you not thought of doing that before?

Rob Rooney

Rob is a copywriter/CD in NYC. There are fewer and fewer portfolio sites that feel like someone made them from scratch. Rob’s site is one of the few, and it’s just awesome.

Craig Geller

Craig is a senior copywriter in NYC. Check out his portfolio then check out his site 99dollartaglines.com. Now that’s how you take your copywriting skills and make a small biz. Rather than, say, making a blog about other copywriters’ portfolio sites with no hope of monetization whatsoever. (Ahem.) Nice.

Matthew Bottkol

Matthew is a copywriter at GS&P in SF. His mother, Joan, describes him as follows: “Matthew grew up in a wood clapboard house near downtown Minneapolis. But, these humble beginnings belie his enormous talents. He sang in the Metropolitan Boys Choir and taught himself to play Scott Joplin’s “The Entertainer” on piano. He started wrestling at age seven and was city champion by age twelve. He endured thirteen years of public schooling and got along with just about everyone he ever met. Needless to say, his talents have only multiplied with age. He’d be an invaluable addition to any agency. And I’m not just saying that because I’m his mother. Did I mention he’s also handsome? Feel free to call me if you’d like to talk about Matthew some more. You can get my number from my wonderful son who, by the way, never forgets to call me.”

Tim Roan

Tim is a copywriter/GCD/SVP at Mullen. His portfolio just totally rocks. Spent 15 minutes debating myself over which piece to feature above. Awesome.

Randy Quan

Randy is a copywriter at Saatchi LA. Almost everything on his site is for one brand, Toyota, but what a mix of work. So cool spending a solid chunk of time on a big brand like that. You get the knowledge and the variety. Good times.

Niels West

Niels is a senior copywriter at Ogilvy & Mather NY. (He’s also a fellow Oregon Duck. Go Ducks!) Lots of cool stuff on his site, including work for IBM, UN Climate Change Conference, US Open, and the Office of National Drug Control Policy. By the way – how great does Vimeo HD video look? Now that you can watch Vimeo on iPhone, it may be time to officially crown it as the best option for portfolios.

Chris DeNinno

Chris is a senior copywriter at TBWA Chiat/Day in Los Angeles. From his landing page: “For more than a decade Chris has been privileged enough to uphold the coveted duty of working in the highly respected, virtually stress-free, incredibly glamourous field of advertising.” And survived.

Jeff Kerrin

Jeff is a freelance copywriter in San Francisco. Name a good agency in SF, chances are Jeff has written for them over the past 10+ years. So, asks you, what does it take to be a successful freelance writer in SF for that long? Three things. One, a bionic brain. Two, nice person. Three, I don’t know number three. If I knew, I’d be a freelance copywriter in SF like Jeff.

Kevin Frank

Kevin is a copywriter/CD at Apple in Cupertino. Check out his TV/interactive reel. Great stuff, including a couple of episodes of one of my favorite web video campaigns EVER, The True Adventures of Chad, The Guy Who Was So Into Super Monkey Ball™ Deluxe That He Decided To Live In A Ball.

Carl Corbitt

Carl is a copywriter/CD at Wieden + Kennedy, Amsterdam. He also has an agency-company-creative business thing called Mutant, Inc., that he runs with his long-time creative partner/AD, Anja Duering, who is also a CD at W+K. Got all that? If not, visit their site and all will be revealed. Along with a ton of absolutely fabulous work.

Dave Kwasnick

print_02_2

Dave is a CD/writer at Blattner Brunner in Pittsburg. He’s got fantastic campaigns for Zippo and Juicy Fruit on his site. He’s also got campaigns for Consol Energy and Navy Federal Credit Union that are harder working, but clean and smart. It’s nice to see a book with clients/brands that are a little more straight-forward, but who are buying work that’s portfolio-worthy. Tip o’ the Hat.

Brian Marabello

seaport-village1

Brian is a journeyman copywriter who, in his spare time, started a fashion company called Mothership. He also started an annual Best Albums of the Year compilation and sharing co-op for ad creative music freaks, of which I was part for several years, that’s just amazing.
