Nick Rudie

Nick is a freelance copywriter/CD in Minneapolis. Lots of inspiring lifestyle and outdoor projects on his site for brands like Supra Boats, Jack Link’s, CLIF Bar, Moomba Boats, Polaris, Catch Co., and Bauer Hockey (above). Makes MC want to get out there this weekend and do something active. Or, write a campaign about other people getting out there and doing something active. (Hmm.) Dig it!

Mick DiMaria

Mick is a freelance copywriter/CD in Los Angeles. Since his last post on MC (back on 12.15.10), he’s added a ton of projects to his site—so many, it takes two pages of thumbnails to get to them all. On the second page of projects, don’t miss “Heart Beats,” part of a branded content campaign he did with SoulPancake/Participant for Denny’s restaurants called “Denny’s Reconnection Stories.” Great story and great storytelling. Time for an update!

Julia is a freelance senior copywriter/CD in Berlin. (Hello, Berlin!) All kinds of beautiful storytelling on her site for brands like Google, eBay, MINI, Spotify, and more. Most of her site is in German, but the descriptions are in English and the stories go beyond language. Don’t miss her short films for Google Pixel. Nice.

His advertising page features work for Jeep, Chevrolet, Corteva Agriscience, and others. His “Too Easy” campaign shows how “Samsung’s Smart TV can do just about anything from connecting with your smart devices to customizing its built-in features.” Like cancelling your kid’s band practice. Daaaaaad.

Luke Somasundram

Luke is a copywriter based in Singapore. (Love getting to feature international portfolios on MC.) Directly from Luke’s site: “With brilliant collaborators, Luke has eaten virtual fruits, made cartoons, faked history, sold insurance with a horror film, created a game about himself as an upset old man, and invented a puffer jacket with a beer-powered cooling system. When he’s not working, Luke performs improv comedy. He’s done shows in Shanghai, Manila, Bengaluru, and all over Singapore. One time he wrapped himself in tinfoil for a show about time travel for Singapore’s National Gallery. They haven’t contacted him since.” Ha!

Ashley Glass

Ashley is a freelance copywriter/creative director in NYC, previously at Laundry Service, Code and Theory, McCann, BBDO, and others. As one would expect from that resume, Ashley’s portfolio is overflowing with award-winning projects for big brands like Mountain Dew, MasterCard, Xerox, HP, Google, TGI Fridays, and Lysol. Her site also features other published writing, photography, art, directing, and a music video that won some stuff too. Geeeeez.

Dhanush Paramesh

Danush is a senior copywriter/ACD in NYC, previously at Wunderman Thompson, VaynerMedia, and McCann. All kinds of cool projects on his site for big brands like Pepsi and MasterCard, plus some film work as well. However, it being October with the holidays right around the corner, MC had to feature the Pespi “Turkeytron,” the Thanksgiving dinner setup every football/Taylor Swift fan didn’t know they needed, but do now. Delish.

Spencer McAfee-Gundrum

Spencer McAfee-Gundrum is a senior copywriter at Wongdoody in Seattle where he’s worked on Amazon Blink and Les Schwab Tires over the past year. Before that, he worked at VMLY&R on projects for Microsoft, Beef. It’s What’s For Dinner, and Driscoll’s Berries. He got his start in the industry with six (yes, six) copywriting internships—mostly jobs in college that produced portfolio gems like Get Checked Omaha (including headlines like “HIS AND HERPES,” nice). Dig it.

Patrick Stogner

Patrick is an in-house copywriter at American Express in Atlanta, Georgia, previously at FKA, and before that a graduate Creative Circus (2021). His portfolio is a mix of student work and post-grad projects for brands like Jeep, Delta Dental, Budweiser, Advil, and Tile. It’s so interesting to see how the walls between in-house and agency have broken down over the past 10+ years—allowing portfolio school creatives like Patrick to go back and forth in a way we couldn’t 20 years ago. Dig it.

Leonidas Anagnostou

Leonidas is a senior copywriter at Ogilvy Greece in Athens. (How fun is that? Fun.) All kinds of cool projects in his portfolio, including “Into The Unknown” for the Onassis Cultural Centre (above) and Instamagotchi, a virtual pet living that grows as you use social media—and tells you if it’s growing too fast. Think a few of us could use something like that. (Ahem.) Dig it.

Since his last post on MC (way back on 09.28.17), he’s added all kinds of new projects to his site, including “Deadly Flora” for WWF and “Writing Lights a Way Out” for Amnesty International (above). Nothing better than seeing a writer using their superpowers for good. Time for an update!

Mike Haftel

Mike Haftel is a freelance copywriter in San Francisco. (Mike’s been on MC a few times over the years, always great to see his portfolio updates.) Since his last post on MC in 2018, he’s added a bunch of new work to his site including a cool trailer for Alan Wake 2 (AKQA), a psychological/survival horror game. At the time of this post, the launch trailer is up for a Clio and Golden Joystick Award. Niiiice.

Matt Shoewalter

Matt is a senior copywriter at VCCP in NYC. There are so many cool projects in his portfolio, MC had a hard time choosing which to feature. (High-class problem, as the kids say.) Don’t miss his first project, JFK Moonshot (super cool), featured above. Love the idea/strategy behind the second project—Friends Again for B of A. And how does MC get some of those Coca-Cola Tic Tacs? Hmm.

David Jarvis

David is a senior copywriter at Barkley in Denver. Since his last post on MC back on 08.30.2019, he’s been busy (including a move from Motive to Barkley). His updated site now features “celebrity cameos, meat-scented spa products and in-theatre entertainment that transformed into campy culture fodder.” (Nice.) It also features Pepsi Summergram—for which David wrote over 3,000 summer puns. Hello, dream project. Even if they only printed 50 of them.
