Matt Shoewalter

Matt is a senior copywriter at VCCP in NYC. There are so many cool projects in his portfolio, MC had a hard time choosing which to feature. (High-class problem, as the kids say.) Don’t miss his first project, JFK Moonshot (super cool), featured above. Love the idea/strategy behind the second project—Friends Again for B of A. And how does MC get some of those Coca-Cola Tic Tacs? Hmm.

Dave Kuhl

Dave is a freelance copywriter/ACD in Portsmouth, NH. Since his last post on MC (way back on 03.05.14), he’s been on quite a journey—including starting his own boutique agency, Love & The Machine, and a 3-year stint as an in-house ACD at Bauer Hockey. (Don’t miss his “Mayor of Boomtown” and “The Women’s Movement Never Stops” campaigns for Bauer.) Definitely time for an update.

Justin Cannon

Justin is a copywriter at Forsman & Bodenfors NYC. Since his last post on MC (back on 11.15.17), he’s been busy. Awesome work on his site for Friendly’s, Saucony, Seagram’s 7, and Oatly, which MC saw all over San Francisco for a time. Very cool. He’s also got a bunch of humor writing, cartoons, and other good stuff up there. Time for an update!

Justin Cannon

blueapron

Justin is a new copywriter (and cartoonist) in NYC after finishing up his second year of classes at SVA and AdHouse. He may be new to the creative side, but Justin’s got some real-deal agency chops after five years on the account side with DigitasLBi, Arnold, and BBDO/Organic. Can’t wait to see where he lands!

John Geany

babyrays

John is a copywriter who just moved to Brooklyn from Boston (where he spent time at Arnold Boston and MMB), on the hunt for freelance or full-time. Bunch of cool projects on his site for brands like Subway, Toyota, Jack Daniel’s, and New Balance. Don’t miss his not-so-sweet campaign for Sweet Baby Ray’s (above, brutal). Excited to see where John lands!

Robert Borges

tyranny

Robert is a freelance copywriter/CD in Denver. One of MC’s favorite things about running MC is getting to see the different paths that writers take to becoming awesome writers & CDs. From Robert: “I’ve lived some life, been some places, worked mostly in the ad biz on some cool brands, at some cool shops. I’m a classic late bloomer: graduated college @27, took up fishing @28, snowboarding @32, Harley Riding @37, currently mastering the nuances of FB community management.” Yup. That’s how you do it.

Lisa Taylor

taylor_share_fearlessly

Lisa is a freelance copywriter/CD in Boston. Since her last post on MC (back on 02.04.10), she’s got a brand new site titled “Writing In Yoga Pants” which sounds very comfortable. (Confirmed on her PANTS page, very comfy.) She’s also got a crazy variety of new projects for brands like Able Made, Ocean Spray, SelectHealth, Fancypants Baking Co., and Keds + Taylor Swift (above), which is a super deep integrated campaign. Dig it.

Since his last post on MC (way back on 09.21.11), he’s got a new site, new gig, and a whole bunch of new work for clients like Verizon, Audible, Vevo, Google, Chapstick, and Mentos. Don’t miss his beautiful campaign for Popsicle (above) celebrating summer. Is it really almost over? How’d that happen so fast?

Todd Mitchell

barrel

Todd is a freelance copywriter/CD in Boston. Since his last post on MC over six years ago (05.10.10, so long ago), Todd’s been busy. Like, super busy. Including lighting the 26-foot high Jack Daniel’s Barrel Tree (above), which looks like inspiration for MC’s 2016 front yard holiday display. Yes, please. Welcome back, Mr. Mitchell.

He’s also written a book, The Path To Unenlightenment. Anytime you get to say, “Since the last time I was here I’ve written a book” you’re good. Dig it.

Frank is a copywriter/creative director at Deutsch in NYC. Since his last post on MC (almost exactly five years ago on 07.29.10), he’s gone from junior copywriter at Hill Holiday in Boston, to Arnold, to DDB, to Deutsch, created some amazing projects, and won a billion awards. Don’t miss his work for WATERisLIFE, including HashTag Killer (above). Just awesome.

Mark Hohenschau

Mark is a writer/ACD at Y&R Chicago. Since his last post on MC (way back on 10.25.10), he’s revamped his site and loaded it with all kinds of new projects: Tyson Anytizers (above, “I’m starrrving!”), Dunkin’ Donuts, Progressive, Ocean Spray, Volvo, and more. Way past time for an update. Way past time for MC to heat up some Boneless Chicken Wyngz. Not kidding.

Bryan Karr

birds

Bryan is a writer at Venables Bell in San Francisco. Since his last post on MC (4.23.12), he moved to Venables from Leo Burnett Chicago and added new work to his site, including Audi and Skyy Vodka. Love the Audi spot (above). That’s exactly what the world is going to be like once Amazon starts using drones for delivery. Unfortunately, MC only has a Honda. Yikes!

Justin Ebert

queen

Justin is a copywriter/CD in NYC. Since his last post on MC (07.27.12), he’s gone full-time freelance, put together a new Cargo site, and added a bunch of new work—including the above for Capri Sun. So many killer projects all over his site. Really happy to have Justin back up on MC. Really awesome way to kick off the week.

UPDATE: Chris Hancock

stunt-double_640_2x

Been about a year since Chris’s last update on MC. Since then, he’s moved back to San Francisco and freelanced for Pereira O’dell, Camp+King, Muhtayzik Hoffer, Mekanism, and others. (Um, nice list there, geez.) So much great writing all over his site. This is a fun one.

Tim Gillingham

Tim is a freelance copywriter/CD in Minneapolis. Over the past 20 years, he’s worked at shops like Fallon, Carmichael, Arnold, Burnett, and Saatchi (geez), on more awesome accounts than MC can list here. Don’t miss his classic campaigns for Citi Simplicity Card and the VW Beetle, including the above spot “Squares.” Brilliant.

New Copywriters Week: Lora Faris

crayons

Lora is new copywriter at Arnold Boston (congrats!), after graduating from Miami Ad School: New York and completing an internship at Droga5. Lots of interesting strategy in her portfolio: Crayola goes green by going black and white (above), bone marrow donation at Comic Con, and the NFL joins the World Wildlife Fund to help conserve the habitats of Bengals and Dolphins. Smart.

Craig Miller

dj

Craig is a copywriter/SVP/Group CD at Arnold Worldwide in Boston. Since his last post on MC (04.22.11), he moved from Crispin Porter + Bogusky in Boulder to Arnold, and added a bunch of new work to his portfolio—which just rocks. It’s one those sites where you go, “Oh, that campaign. And that campaign. And he did that campaign, too. Geeeez.” Just awesome.

Dave Kuhl

dave-V9_2x

Dave is a senior writer at ViTRO in San Diego, previously at Arnold, Leo Burnett, SapientNitro, and MMB. All kinds of killer work up and down his site for a crazy variety of clients, including Asics (the marathon treadmill is genius), Dodge Ram, Truth, Jack Daniel’s, Bahamas, Alaska Communications, Red Sox, and Radio Shack. Love it.

Evan Dunn

41_bakeryc

Evan is a copywriter at Arnold Boston, been there since 2010. Little tangent here. After clicking through Evan’s site (good stuff!), MC kept going back to his Volvo Summer project. Is it completely cliché that MC now wants a 1966 Volvo P1800? Is it too “thirtysomething” Micheal Steadman? Probably. But that’s a NICE car.
