Luke Somasundram

Luke is a copywriter based in Singapore. (Love getting to feature international portfolios on MC.) Directly from Luke’s site: “With brilliant collaborators, Luke has eaten virtual fruits, made cartoons, faked history, sold insurance with a horror film, created a game about himself as an upset old man, and invented a puffer jacket with a beer-powered cooling system. When he’s not working, Luke performs improv comedy. He’s done shows in Shanghai, Manila, Bengaluru, and all over Singapore. One time he wrapped himself in tinfoil for a show about time travel for Singapore’s National Gallery. They haven’t contacted him since.” Ha!

Aste Gutiérrez

Aste is a copywriter/CD at TBWA\Chiat\Day in NYC. Every once in awhile, a portfolio comes MC’s way that isn’t just good—it’s on another level. From the second you hit the homepage it’s like, oh no, this is what a portfolio is supposed to look like. (What have I been doing with my life??? Arrrg.) Aste’s site is one of those. All kinds of killer projects for clients like Nike, Nissan, Sharp, and Coke while working at agencies like TBWA, BBH, AKQA, and Fred & Farid. And then, if you haven’t considered quitting advertising after viewing the above, check out his Awards page. That’ll do it.

Andrew Jolliffe

duracell-1

Andrew is an independent strategic/creative copywriter/CD in Paris, after 26 years at Ogilvy, BBH, and leading his own shop. His site is in a blog format, so visitors can scroll through all of his projects on one page. Per Andrew, you’ll find: “Some work snippets. Not the full catalogue but an eclectic mix of  strategies, ads and content. Or if you like, a sweet-shop of flavours, colours and tones. After all, brands’ personalities depend on them.” Dig it.

Al Merry

readyforlove

Al is a freelance copywriter/CD in NYC, previously at Wieden + Kennedy in Amsterdam, NYC, and London, BBH before that. Holy smokes what a portfolio. There are so many amazing Nike projects on Al’s site, it’s almost a crime not to feature one of them. However, the above spot for Gap just killed MC when it came out, so it’s the one. But please, grab a beverage of your choice and a comfy chair, and take your time with Al’s site. It’s awesome.

James Maravetz

LooseCannon

James is a writer/director at Storyfarm in Baltimore. Since his last post on MC (08.07.14), he’s been busy. From James: “After years of working as a Creative Director at big agencies like Crispin and Saatchi, I decided to pursue my dream of directing commercials myself. I moved to Baltimore and took over the creative and directing duties for a film production company called Storyfarm. With my advertising experience, combined with Storyfarm’s production capabilities, we’ve created an interesting niche for ourselves as a hybrid ad agency/production company. Now I’m writing and directing content directly for clients, usually without an agency go-between.” Dig it.

UPDATE: Vlad Ivangorodsky

dog

Since his last post on MC, New York art director/creative director Vlad Ivangorodsky has gone full-time freelance and has added a bunch of new work to his site, including the above GoDaddy spot for Barton F. Graf 9000 (that almost made the Super Bowl). Always love posting Vlad’s site up on MC, even though he’s not officially a copywriter. Good ideas are good ideas are good ideas.

UPDATE: James Maravetz & Vlad Ivangorodsky

youcan

Since their last posts on MC, James Maravetz (01.28.13) and Vlad Ivangorodsky (honorary AD 10.15.12) have combined their insane portfolios into one super insane portfolio site. MC found it impossible to choose which project to feature, there’s so much killer work, but what’s above seemed appropriate. In athletics and creative, you can’t until you can.

UPDATE: Nick Zafonte

NR_Poster_square

Since his last post on MC (07.13.2010 “Elf Yourself”), Nick has become a writer/director—first with his short The First Day and soon with his first feature No Retreat. Nick is currently trying to raise $10k through indiegogo to produce it, and has over $7k so far. Check it out at the link below. You can also visit his portfolio site at the link below that.

UPDATE: Andrew Baker

Screen-shot-2012-03-17-at-11.45.56-PM

Andrew is a freelance copywriter/CD based in Los Angeles, available globally (previous MC post 3.19.12). He’s all about cars. His entire portfolio is cars — and when you scroll through it, you quickly realize he’s worked on just about every car brand out there. He recently traded in his old site for a new 2013 model (tumblr), so time for an MC update.

UPDATE: Vladislav Ivangorodsky

Vlad is an art director/CD at CP+B in Miami. His portfolio was one of MC’s rare Honorary posts for art directors (Feb 2011), because it’s just off the charts awesome with big ideas. Got a nice email from Vlad saying that that post helped him get his current gig, which MC loves to hear. Anyway, year and a half later, it’s time for an update. New site. New work. Still off the charts.

Andrew Baker

Andrew is a freelance copywriter/CD in the States and Asia. He loves cars. All kinds of cars. And he’s on a mission to do work for as many car brands as he can: Mercedes, Porsche, BMW, Scion, Cadillac, Acura, Infiniti, the list goes on. Gotta say, if you’re going to pick a category to go after, cars is a good one. Andrew’s site has a page titled Super Bowl TV, and he’s got four spots up there. Nice.
