Dave Kuhl

Dave is a freelance copywriter/ACD in Portsmouth, NH. Since his last post on MC (way back on 03.05.14), he’s been on quite a journey—including starting his own boutique agency, Love & The Machine, and a 3-year stint as an in-house ACD at Bauer Hockey. (Don’t miss his “Mayor of Boomtown” and “The Women’s Movement Never Stops” campaigns for Bauer.) Definitely time for an update.

Alice Crippa

Alice is a copywriter/ACD/innovation catalyst at FCB Chicago. Since her last post on MC (on 07.08.15, almost exactly six years ago), she’s been busy. Don’t miss her epic video “Call From Nature” for Michelob Ultra Pure Gold. And be sure to check out her Travel Ads radio spots for Radio Flyer (so good). Definitely time for an update.

Jaz Lee

Jaz is a 24-year-old copywriter/ACD at Leo Burnett Malaysia. He joined Leo Burnett five years ago as a junior copywriter and since then, in his own words, “it’s been an awesome ride.” All kinds of killer projects for Petronas on his site (including the tear-jerker “Rubber Boy” above), plus work for Samsung, UNICEF, and others. Love it.

Vickknesh Raj

Vickknesh is a copywriter at Leo Burnett in Kuala Lumpur. (How cool is that?) The first project in his portfolio for Jacob’s, the original Malaysian cream cracker, celebrates other Malaysian originals by laser-cutting their likenesses into 1,500 crackers. First, watch the video. Then, watch the making-of video right below it. That’s a lot of crackers.

Dave Fox

cowboy

Dave is a freelance copywriter/CD in Dallas. He’s got a ton of cool projects for Coors on his site, plus all kinds of hilarity. Like his campaign for the Gay Rodeo (above). And his Pi Day Rap for PizzaInn. And his Virtualdave 2.0 project, which is the first time MC has seen “Creative Partying” as a category tag. Would like to see more of it, please!

Unnati Marda

Thursday_640x360_091316

Unnati is an art director at Leo Burnett in Mumbai, India, previously at Fuseideas in Boston, and a graduate of Miami Ad School. Her book is a mix of visual design, UX, product innovation, and digital goodness. It’s also a mix of produced work (like the gif above for Subway) and student work from her time at MAD, which is so cool to see. Dig it.

Amy Creyer

claw-hand

Amy is a copywriter/ACD at Momentum in Chicago. Before becoming a copywriter, she got her start in advertising as a professional influencer. From Amy: “At the height of fashion blogging popularity my street-style blog, ChicagoStreetStyle.com, had 1.4 million annual uniques. As a one-woman content shop I landed projects with major brands like Burberry and Microsoft, and I was an official Maxxinista for T.J.Maxx. Through the process of these partnerships, I discovered that what I loved most about being creative for a living is thinking of the Big Idea. So I made the conscious decision to leave influencing and join the agency world. Here in Chicago I’ve worked at Schafer Condon Carter, FCB Chicago, and the Leo Burnett Group. Currently I’m an Associate Creative Director at Momentum Worldwide’s Chicago office, where I dream up transformative experiences for clients like Mondelez and United Airlines.” Love it.

Jose Benitez

kim

Jose is a senior copywriter Dieste in Chicago. Since his last post on MC (back on 12.04.14), he’s added a bunch of new projects to his site including Adoptable Trends, which turns shelter dogs into trending topics by naming them things like “Kim Kardashian’s Butt.” So smart. So cute! (The dog, not the butt.)

Dan Hofstadter

paper

Dan is a freelance copywriter/CD in Los Angeles. Over the past 10+ years, he’s worked and freelanced everywhere good: BBDO, Goodby, Leo Burnett, CP+B, 72andSunny, Facebook, EVB, David+Goliath, sheesh. As one might expect, he’s got the portfolio to show for it. Just fantastic. Don’t miss The Great Paper Airplane Project for the Pima Air & Space Museum. Genius.

Mike Tsapos

esurance

Mike is a freelance ACD/copywriter currently at Leo Burnett in Chicago. He’s got a crazy variety of projects on his Behance site—from BMW Motorcycles to ESPN/Die Hard 4 co-branding, a campaign for the American Association of Railroads to a commercial for DCBeer.com featuring, well, you’ll just have to see that one for yourself. (MC only looked at the left side, FYI.)

Bryan Karr

birds

Bryan is a writer at Venables Bell in San Francisco. Since his last post on MC (4.23.12), he moved to Venables from Leo Burnett Chicago and added new work to his site, including Audi and Skyy Vodka. Love the Audi spot (above). That’s exactly what the world is going to be like once Amazon starts using drones for delivery. Unfortunately, MC only has a Honda. Yikes!

Mike Lars White

lars

Mike is a freelance copywriter in San Francisco. Since his last post on MC (07.08.11), he’s added Cheetos, Netflix and Comcast to his site, worked at GS&P for a couple of years, and freelanced at Muh-tay-zuhk Hoffer, Cutwater, Heat, and Eleven Inc. (Busy!) Mike’s also written and directed a short film called “Steve’s Problem” which just premiered online after 16 film fests and two “best narrative short” wins. Check it out on the “Film” section of his site.

Tim Gillingham

toast

Tim is a freelance copywriter/CD in Minneapolis. Over the past 20 years, he’s worked at shops like Fallon, Carmichael, Arnold, Burnett, and Saatchi (geez), on more awesome accounts than MC can list here. Don’t miss his classic campaigns for Citi Simplicity Card and the VW Beetle, including the above spot “Squares.” Brilliant.

Jose Benítez

gain

Jose is a copywriter at Dieste in Chicago. He’s also a professional skateboarder who did some time at Second City. (Proving once again that drummers, comedians and surfers/skateboarders make great copywriters.) So cool to see how writers like Jose jump from one ad culture to another—and one language to another. A good idea is a good idea.

Elliot Nordstrom

rich

Elliot is a copywriter at Sukle Advertising & Design in Denver. His site was submitted to MC by art director Allie Nordstrom, who also happens to be his wife (rad, big ups, Allie!). Don’t miss his campaign for Man Therapy, featuring Dr. Rich Mahogany, which aims to put an end to the stigma of men and mental health. The name alone is reason enough to watch. Nice.

Nate Steele

allstate

Nate is a copywriter at Leo Burnett in Chicago. Whole bunch of Allstate in his portfolio including TV, banners and print. How great is the Mayhem campaign? Great. He’s also got a Second City sketch that he wrote and titled, which ran for five weeks. Once again proving that comedian and copywriter are like peanut butter and jelly.

Dave Kuhl

dave-V9_2x

Dave is a senior writer at ViTRO in San Diego, previously at Arnold, Leo Burnett, SapientNitro, and MMB. All kinds of killer work up and down his site for a crazy variety of clients, including Asics (the marathon treadmill is genius), Dodge Ram, Truth, Jack Daniel’s, Bahamas, Alaska Communications, Red Sox, and Radio Shack. Love it.

UPDATE: Will Bright

bmw

Will is a copywriter/CD in NYC. Since his last post on MC (05.24.2012), he’s got a ton of new work up on his site, including the above spot for the new BMWi launch that’s running during the Olympics—which kicked off this weekend in Sochi. In fact, MC just saw it while watching Luge. Dig it.

Maria Snell

CapNCrunchPringles

Maria is a new copywriter at Leo Burnett in Chicago, after graduating from SMU last year where she was part of their Creative Method program. (Big ups!) Her book is currently all student/intern work, which MC loves to see. It takes more than a killer book to land a job at a shop like Leo Burnett Chicago, but it all starts with the portfolio.
