Julia Sumpf

Julia is a freelance senior copywriter/CD in Berlin. (Hello, Berlin!) All kinds of beautiful storytelling on her site for brands like Google, eBay, MINI, Spotify, and more. Most of her site is in German, but the descriptions are in English and the stories go beyond language. Don’t miss her short films for Google Pixel. Nice.

Mac Schwerin

Mac is a senior copywriter at Draftline NYC, previously at The Secret Little Agency in Singapore. In addition to projects for brands like DBS Bank (above), Travelers, and Lazada, his site includes a short documentary he wrote and narrated on the PlayStation, as well as links to articles he’s had published on sites like Vox, The Atlantic, and Polygon. Dig it.

Lucía Céspedes & Joan Rayó

Lucía (writer) and Joan (art director) are a junior creative team at TBWA\España. (Love having a Spanish team on MC again.) Their team portfolio is part produced, part student work—but mostly produced, and what’s produced is awesome. Don’t miss their campaign for Codere Apuestas, Real Madrid’s official betting company (above). Too funny.

Ben Phillips

lawnman

Ben is a senior creative at TBWA\Manchester. Since his last post on MC (07.23.2015), he’s been busy. He’s got a killer-looking site (Squarespace), including an awesome video reel landing page. Love all of the amazing characters in his portfolio, from Neal the Sofaworks sloth, to New Westland Safelawn’s Lawn Man (above), to Glen the rentalcars.com Rental Car guru, to Ben’s dog who dances to Def Leppard (not kidding). Time for an update!

Matt Benjamin

plumber

Matt is a copywriter in Albuquerque on the hunt for his next thing. Love the strategic write-ups for his projects, titled “Consider This.” Short, to the point, great way to set things up. Also dig that Matt includes #1 Failures for each job he’s had on his Experience page—along with three things he’s learned (down at the bottom). Super smart site, all the way around. Except for his Jokes video. That’s good and dumb.

Raoni Leão

gatorade

Raoni is a senior copywriter at DDB Mozambique (MC’s first site from Mozambique, yes!), previously at agencies in Brazil. He’s worked on banks, insurers, beverages, credit cards, and cars, for brands like Google, Gatorade, Paints Suvinil, Toyota, Vodacom, and Standard Bank. No matter the language, it’s so cool to see the ideas that get produced in different parts of the world. Always something to learn.

Copywriters Wanted: Bright Red\TBWA, Florida

brightred

Rob Kerr, Executive Creative Director of Bright Red\TBWA in Tallahassee, Florida is on the hunt for junior, mid-level and senior copywriters (no ACDs or CDs, please). From Rob: “The Southeastern outpost of \TBWA has been on a new-business roll lately and is currently accepting books.

Do you believe big ideas can come from anywhere? We do. We expect them from you, consistently. You’ll be thrown into the fire day one and have the opportunity to work on a diverse range of clients from travel & tourism, consumer packaged goods, durable products to fast-food. This is not for the faint-of-heart — you will be juggling multiple assignments, often with tight deadlines and will be expected to win awards. Sound like you?

Don’t apply if you have your heart set on working in New York. Tallahassee, Florida couldn’t be further from Madison Avenue. Think small-town hustle meets global muscle.”

Copywriter Wanted: Bright Red\TBWA, Florida

brightred

In May 2015, Bright Red\TBWA posted a job opening for a Senior CW on MC. Senior Copywriter Philip Laue saw the post, got the gig, and now six months later is posting a new CW opening on MC. Love that. From Philip: “I was like you once. Reading Modern Copywriter and wondering if anybody ever really gets hired from these job posts. Aren’t the robots supposed to be taking over soon anyways? Well, good news, real person. If the copy bots are upon us, they haven’t hit Tallahassee yet.

This outpost of great advertising is still being run by some of the most creative humans you’ll ever meet. We’re looking for another creative human to join our ranks, preferably in a mid-level or senior role with at least four years of experience. You’ll be working alongside other real people to do award-winning advertising for travel and tourism, consumer packaged goods, and more.

Just send your resume and portfolio to my boss (Rob Kerr, ECD) at rkerr@brightredtbwa.com. He’s totally not a robot either and this whole post is totally not the only way that I can get a message to the outside world. And even if it was, who cares? This place pays you a competitive salary to write stuff like this.”

All kinds of super imaginative projects on his site, including a late-night TV watching sloth for Sofaworks Gogglebox, evil dandelions for Resolva Liquid Shots, animated riders for First Transpennine Express, and the Foamburst Genies (above) for Imperial Leather Foamburst. What a casting session that must have been!

Keenon Daniels

Keenon Daniels is a copywriter in Cape Town, South Africa (interested in finding a gig in NYC, by the way). Lots of great stuff all over his site, including a couple of categories that are pretty tough: package design and direct mail. Don’t miss his campaign for Musica’s rock star-themed products. Awesome.
