Jack McNamara

Jack McNamara is a freelance creative director who kept using the same Squarespace he built in the VCU Brandcenter basement back in 2018. In years since, he has worked with McCann, Publicis, and VML. He won at Clio, One Show, AICP, and ADC, and was also shortlisted at Cannes for a heavy metal album based on a lottery ticket. He’s been in AdAge and AdWeek for both client projects and side projects. A few months ago, he self-produced a VHS tape for Pit Viper that was put on display at the last Blockbuster store on Earth.

So maybe it was time to move away from the standard student portfolio.

His new site tries something a bit different as an 8-bit sidescroller. It takes natural left-to-right reading, and turns it into a playable narrative that’s familiar to all. You very literally go on a journey with him through each of his career highlights in a level-by-level fashion. If you can explain the plot of Super Mario, you can probably explain Jack’s career by playing through his new website.
