Luke Somasundram

Luke is a copywriter based in Singapore. (Love getting to feature international portfolios on MC.) Directly from Luke’s site: “With brilliant collaborators, Luke has eaten virtual fruits, made cartoons, faked history, sold insurance with a horror film, created a game about himself as an upset old man, and invented a puffer jacket with a beer-powered cooling system. When he’s not working, Luke performs improv comedy. He’s done shows in Shanghai, Manila, Bengaluru, and all over Singapore. One time he wrapped himself in tinfoil for a show about time travel for Singapore’s National Gallery. They haven’t contacted him since.” Ha!

Matt Gray

Matt is a copywriter/CD/Aussie currently at Iris in London. So many great projects on his site for a crazy variety of brands. His campaign for Starbucks, Every Name’s A Story, won the £1M Channel 4 Diversity in Advertising Award 2019 and it’s easy to see why. The first film, titled “Every Name’s a Story,” is just beautiful. Love it.

Huge variety of projects on his site for brands like Chevrolet, NAPA Auto Parts, Key Bank, International, University of Alabama, and more. Joel also recommends Robert’s “Quarantine Check-in Videos” where he interviews fellow comedians and creatives. (Link to video below.) Good times.

Chris Shafer

Chris is a copywriter/CD at TM in Dallas. All kinds of fun projects up and down his site. Don’t miss his Pizza Hut social posts, which are as hilarious as pizza is delicious. (What a killer assignment as a writer, sheesh.) Also check out his “I’ve Only Got 5 Minutes” page, which is a great idea—and probably something more creatives, especially those with tons of projects on their site, should consider. Dig it.

Since his last post on MC (on 01.21.13), he’s added all kinds of killer projects to his site, including MC’s favorite Super Bowl spot of 2016 featuring Drake for T-Mobile. Heather Parke

Heather is a freelance copywriter/ACD in Los Angeles. Check out her rez and you can’t help but be a little jealous of the agencies she’s worked with and the brands she’s worked on. Sick, sick, sick. Jose Benítez

gain

Jose is a copywriter at Dieste in Chicago. He’s also a professional skateboarder who did some time at Second City. (Proving once again that drummers, comedians and surfers/skateboarders make great copywriters.) So cool to see how writers like Jose jump from one ad culture to another—and one language to another. A good idea is a good idea.
