Ben Heller

Ben is a freelance copywriter/CD based in the San Francisco Bay Area. He’s got a whopping 27 projects on his site for brands like Mobile 1, Sling, SVB, Facebook, Instagram, Pedigree, and MLB. For Schwab, Ben wrote “around 10 TV spots featuring a character named Carl, a bad broker anti-hero played by the hilarious Salvator Xuereb.” Schwab! Good times.

Luke Somasundram

Luke is a copywriter based in Singapore. (Love getting to feature international portfolios on MC.) Directly from Luke’s site: “With brilliant collaborators, Luke has eaten virtual fruits, made cartoons, faked history, sold insurance with a horror film, created a game about himself as an upset old man, and invented a puffer jacket with a beer-powered cooling system. When he’s not working, Luke performs improv comedy. He’s done shows in Shanghai, Manila, Bengaluru, and all over Singapore. One time he wrapped himself in tinfoil for a show about time travel for Singapore’s National Gallery. They haven’t contacted him since.” Ha!

Ashley Glass

Ashley is a freelance copywriter/creative director in NYC, previously at Laundry Service, Code and Theory, McCann, BBDO, and others. As one would expect from that resume, Ashley’s portfolio is overflowing with award-winning projects for big brands like Mountain Dew, MasterCard, Xerox, HP, Google, TGI Fridays, and Lysol. Her site also features other published writing, photography, art, directing, and a music video that won some stuff too. Geeeeez.

Andreia Silva

Andreia is a copywriter at Livlab in Lisbon, Portugal. Her site is divided into two sides: Side A Work and Side B Personal. All kinds of cool projects on both sides. Her first two work projects (at the time of this post) are “Stop the sleep crisis” for Livlab, which is so smart, and Morning Reboot for McDonald’s (above) which is all about waking up, and is also so smart. Love it.

Justin Cannon

Justin is a copywriter at Forsman & Bodenfors NYC. Since his last post on MC (back on 11.15.17), he’s been busy. Awesome work on his site for Friendly’s, Saucony, Seagram’s 7, and Oatly, which MC saw all over San Francisco for a time. Very cool. He’s also got a bunch of humor writing, cartoons, and other good stuff up there. Time for an update!

Definitely time for an update.

Eric Hansen

Eric is a senior copywriter/ACD at Colle McVoy in Minneapolis. All kinds of awesome projects on his site for Jackson Hole, Red Barron, Jack’s Links, Buffalo Wild Wings, and Schell’s Beer (above). Lots of really great headlines, too. (Can’t be a copywriter in Minneapolis for long without being able to write great headlines.) Got to like that.

Grant Smith

Grant is a freelance copywriter/CD in NYC. His portfolio was one of the first posted on MC way back on 12.16.09, almost 10 years ago (how has it been that long?). It was amazing then—and even more amazing now. His site is one long page of killer projects including New York Lotto, FedEx, BBC World, Toyota, AT&T, Red Stripe (classic), Monster, Mountain Dew, Footlocker, Fox Sports, Guinness, and Vonage (above). Stoked to have Grant back up on MC.

Chris Baker

eyepeople

Chris is a freelance copywriter/CD in NYC. His LinkedIn page states that he was named one of Wall Street Journal’s hottest freelance copywriters 2018, but that’s kind of hard to believe because it also states that he “hasn’t had shit in the Economist.” So. Not sure how one reconciles that. He did, however, come up with “Seeing Eye People” for Buzzfeed (above) which is both hilarious and cringeworthy, because it’s 100% that it’s going to be a real service someday. 110%.

Saurabh Kejriwal

lenore

Saurabh is a freelance copywriter in Berlin, originally from India. What a cool portfolio. His work is organized into pages titled Innovation, Digital, Film, Integrated, Print, and Personal (though some projects are featured on multiple pages). Don’t miss his odes to skirts, shirts, trousers, scarves and socks for Lenor (above). Super fun.

Bowen Mendelson

coke

Bowen is a copywriter/CD in Atlanta, previously at Fitzgerald & Co., on the hunt for his next big thing. All kinds of killer projects on his site, including Huggies Baby Making Radio Station, a creepy spot for BP Driver Rewards (how the heck did they sell that through?), and 1,000+ unique songs for Coke’s 1,000 Name Celebration (including Jason, thank you very much). Love it.

Justin Cannon

blueapron

Justin is a new copywriter (and cartoonist) in NYC after finishing up his second year of classes at SVA and AdHouse. He may be new to the creative side, but Justin’s got some real-deal agency chops after five years on the account side with DigitasLBi, Arnold, and BBDO/Organic. Can’t wait to see where he lands!

Jeff Oswald

dude

Jeff is a freelance senior writer/ACD in Chicago. It’s been over two years since his last post on MC (04.23.15), so way past time for an update. Don’t miss his Bud Light page, featuring Conan (“Vroom-vroom party starter” heh-heh) and “Dude Vegas.” MC has but one word. Dude.

Cameron Day

bag

Cameron is a freelance writer/CD in Austin. He’s the son of Guy Day (co-founder of Chiat/Day) and the “PAST” page on his site is a who’s-who list of amazing clients and agencies. Clicking through his work, you see why—great writing all over the place. So what does MC choose to feature? A grocery bag, of course! It just perfectly sums up what a copywriter’s portfolio should be about. You may spend 30 years writing the hell out of everything from Super Bowl TV to Rolling Stone print, but in the end it’s that grocery bag you nailed that makes it to the top. Great writing is great writing, no matter where it appears. Love it.

Clarence Bradley

hot

Clarence is a copywriter/CD currently freelancing at Apple in London. Since his last post on MC way back on 08.09.2010, he’s taken over the world. So many awesome projects in his portfolio. The first three had MC laughing out loud, including a genius campaign for American Standard, a super hot (not!) spot for Planet Fitness (above), and an amazing video for The Green Party in the UK. Awesomeness.

Mike Weidner

finalfriend

Mike is a freelance copywriter in Atlanta, GA. The work on his site is broken out into four categories (Consumer, B2B, Digital & Social Media, Recruiting), plus a page called Marcia & Me (Marcia Brady!), Awards, and Contact. Some cool projects on his Digital page, including NCAA Final Friend for AT&T, which looks fun, but also a possible nightmare—rejecting 63 Facebook friends. Yikes!

Matei Curtasu

Matei is a freelance copywriter/CD working in NYC and Berlin. Since his last post on MC (way back on 12.10.12), just after graduating from Miami Ad School Hamburg, he’s taken over the world. His portfolio includes projects for Google, Nike, adidas, AT&T, CNN, and Hornbach, for agencies including heimat Berlin and Havas NY—and Matei is now teaching at Miami Ad School. Time for an update!

Jason Gonzales

chobani

Jason is a copywriter/ACD at FKQ Advertising in Clearwater, FL. Cool mix of projects on his site including work for Chobani (above), Stella Artois, Diageo, Ball Park, Ronald McDonald House, Chick-Fil-A, and a Chick-Fil-A site, LoveIsHere.com, “developed to encourage an ongoing, honest conversation about love, relationships, marriage, and family.” Once again proving MC’s theory that copywriters know everything about everything—especially relationships. (So kidding.) Good stuff.

Andrei Chahine

miley-sprinkles_wildposting_melrose_stanley-final

Andrei is a copywriter/VP, Brand Creative Director at MTV in NYC, which sounds like the coolest job ever. Since his last post on MC back on 03.02.12, Andrei moved to New York, worked at Anomaly and Grey, and now leads MTV’s in-house creative department. He’s also added all kinds of new work to his portfolio, including MTV VMA campaigns (for which he’s won a bunch of Cannes Lions). Time for an update!

Andrew Payton

pop

Andrew is a copywriter/GCD at Story in NYC. Since his last post on MC (way back on 09.21.11), he’s got a new site, new gig, and a whole bunch of new work for clients like Verizon, Audible, Vevo, Google, Chapstick, and Mentos. Don’t miss his beautiful campaign for Popsicle (above) celebrating summer. Is it really almost over? How’d that happen so fast?

Dan Hofstadter

paper

Dan is a freelance copywriter/CD in Los Angeles. Over the past 10+ years, he’s worked and freelanced everywhere good: BBDO, Goodby, Leo Burnett, CP+B, 72andSunny, Facebook, EVB, David+Goliath, sheesh. As one might expect, he’s got the portfolio to show for it. Just fantastic. Don’t miss The Great Paper Airplane Project for the Pima Air & Space Museum. Genius.

Heather Parke

bradley

Heather is a freelance copywriter/ACD in Los Angeles. Check out her rez and you can’t help but be a little jealous of the agencies she’s worked with and the brands she’s worked on. Sick, sick, sick. MC had a hard time choosing what image to feature in Heather’s post, but if you have the opportunity to get Bradley Cooper’s face up there, that’s what you do. Right? Right.

Circus Week Fall 2015: Joey Henson

jot

Joey is a new copywriter at BBDO NY working on Snickers (awesome) after graduating from Creative Circus. Don’t miss his case study for Post-it JotSpot, created with fellow Circus grads Ilana Wolstein and Hilary Smith. Such a perfect idea for Post-it. Such a good thing it doesn’t exist. MC’s 6th-grade daughter would be SO annoyed. “At the library? How’d you get so smart? Oh yeah, me!” Or, “In the kitchen? Hey, what’s that smell? You, acing your math test tomorrow!” C’mon, Post-it. Make that app.

Rick Abbott

Rick is a freelance writer/CD in Miami. Since his last post on MC five years ago (03.19.10, how has it been that long?), he’s been very, very busy. M&M’s, Coke, Jet Blue, AT&T, Macy’s, Smirnoff, Acura, etc., for agencies like Crispin, RPA, Sapient, JWT, and BBDO. This is a good one.
