ACD/CW Wanted: Hub Strategy & Communication

hub_logo_final-2

Fabulous San Francisco agency (and good friends of MC) Hub Strategy & Communication is on the hunt for an ACD/writer (open to a senior writer, too). You want this job. From Hub: “We are looking for an ACD/Writer. The slash is in there because we need you to be an amazing creative director and an amazing writer — we can tell the difference.

We work on fun projects with fun clients and fun people. We need you to be one of those people. We also need you to be a person who takes their craft very seriously and is able to bring smart, thoughtful, strategic, and many times funny words to the page. You will be working with the other creative directors at Hub to bring ideas to life. You will be managing a team of talented creatives. You need to be nice to clients, because you will be all up in client meetings. You need to be organized because you’ll be busy. You need to like sandwiches.

If you check out our site (hubsanfrancisco.com), you’ll see that we pride ourselves on our writing and if you see work that feels like the kind of work you want to be doing, give us a shout.”

Justin Ebert

queen

Justin is a copywriter/CD in NYC. Since his last post on MC (07.27.12), he’s gone full-time freelance, put together a new Cargo site, and added a bunch of new work—including the above for Capri Sun. So many killer projects all over his site. Really happy to have Justin back up on MC. Really awesome way to kick off the week.

Edward Ong

yoda

Edward is a writer/CD in Malaysia. (Two CWs from Malaysia in one week. Dig it.) There are a ton of projects in his portfolio and a huge variety—from Penguin Books to BMW, Tiger Beer to posters for his agency’s Star Wars-themed Christmas party. Projects are divided into two categories: Copy and Everything Else. With so much content, that makes it easier to concentrate on just the writing, if that’s what you’re into. Which, being MC, we are.

Jeremy Ng

Jeremy is a senior copywriter at NagaDDB in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. (Love international submissions. More, please!) He started life as a graphic designer, then switched to writing at his first agency. Check out his project for Yoshinkan Aikido, which uses pieces of bad guy faced-cake to promote self-defense classes for Malaysian women. Delish.

UPDATE: Vlad Ivangorodsky

dog

Since his last post on MC, New York art director/creative director Vlad Ivangorodsky has gone full-time freelance and has added a bunch of new work to his site, including the above GoDaddy spot for Barton F. Graf 9000 (that almost made the Super Bowl). Always love posting Vlad’s site up on MC, even though he’s not officially a copywriter. Good ideas are good ideas are good ideas.

Intern Team Wanted: R/GA, Austin

rgaaustin

Chris Cima, Creative Director at R/GA in Austin, is looking for an intern creative team. From Chris: “R/GA Austin is on the hunt for an intern creative team. We’re looking for both a writer and designer/art director. We’re willing to build a team from two solo badasses or if we find a pre-built team that has a great book, even better. The plan is to make this team an active part of our creative department and get them on real projects to see what they can do with enough guidance to keep their heads from exploding.” Love it. Lyndsey Tonyan

game

Way back in January 2014, MC featured Lyndsey’s portfolio in a list of Chicago Portfolio School grads. Here we are, one year later, and Lyndsey’s friend and fellow CW Audrey Hansen has re-submitted her portfolio to MC for an update. (Big ups, Audrey. Love that.) Six tight campaigns and some beautiful typography in her portfolio, including one for the Department of Health and DARE, above, that MC would be all over if it existed. Fun.

UPDATE: Phil Calvit

chop

Phil is a full-time freelance copywriter in Minneapolis. Since his last post on MC (03.10.14), he’s  added new work to his site and some new shops to his already stupid experience list. From Phil: “There’s no getting around it: I’ve been writing ads and ad-like things for a really long goddamn time. Since 1986, I’ve created stuff for pretty much every conceivable industry, in pretty much every conceivable medium—at, I would contend, a pretty consistently high level. And to think that this kind of experience, and this level of wordsmithing, are available on a freelance basis to one and all…the mind reels.”

Hey Freelancers

peter_locke_modern_copywriter_tshirt

MC is gonna start 2015 with a new tag. We’re often asked, “Hey, I’m looking for a freelance copywriter in (city/area) who’s good at (kind of copywriting). Can you recommend someone?” MC isn’t in the business of recommending one freelancer over the other—but what we can do is add a “freelancer” tag to your post, so it’s easier for agencies and business to track you down. NOTE: The tag will be public, for all to see. If you’re down, hit up MC at the email below. Free as always, of course.

Sarah Dembowski

denise_print_o

Sarah is a new copywriter after recently graduating from Chicago Portfolio School, and is now freelancing at DDB Chicago. This is what it’s like for the kids these days. Sarah’s got a campaign for Orville Redenbacher Ready-to-Eat Popcorn that’s all about how much easier it is than microwave popcorn. Wait, you mean we need something easier than microwave popcorn?! But. But. In her ad above, it’s equal to the difference between typewriters and computers. But I. I just. (Sigh)
