Evan Burton

Evan is a copywriter at Camp+King in San Francisco. (Great shop!) All kinds of killer projects on his site for brands like Amazon (above, with Yeti), Starbucks, Mountain Dew, Del Taco, and Energizer. Also, don’t miss the Commercial/Hip-Hop Haiku on his Life page. “maybe they should use / Rubbermaid™ to help themselves / stay fresher, longer.” Yes.

Creative Circus: March 2019 Copywriter Grads

Nothing MC likes more than posting up new copywriter portfolios. Over the weekend MC featured Alex Escalera-Sanchez’s site (awesome), below are a few more Creative Circus recent copywriter grads (also awesome). Thanks much to Kevin Bleeker for forwarding. Congrats to all!

Sam Hoffman

Sam is a new copywriter at RPM (an agency that specializes in marketing for Broadway, so cool) in NYC and a recent graduate of The University of Texas at Austin. All kinds of fun stuff on his site, from campaigns for Reynolds Wrap (above) and Pill Pack, to a book “Where Good Apples Go Bad” for Angry Orchard Cider, to his killer IG feed. Dig it.

Pete Pirone

Pete is a copywriter at Newell Brands in NYC, before that Macy’s. His book is mostly a mix of spec projects (always fun to see), including work for Whole Foods, Citi Bike, Squarespace, Snyder’s, GNC, and Cartoon Network (above). He’s also got separate pages dedicated to digital writing and personal projects—the latter focused on Walt Disney World, of which Pete is a huge fan. (As is MC.) “In every job that must be done, there is an element of fun.” – Mary Poppins.

Shea Tullos

Shea is a senior copywriter at Cactus in Denver. Since his last post on MC (back on 02.05.16, almost exactly three years ago), he’s been busy—and making the most of the cool opportunities he’s getting at Cactus. Lots of new Colorado Lottery TV work and the commercial debut of KC’s Patrick Mahomes (who should have been in yesterday’s Super Bowl, ahem) for CommunityAmerica Credit Union. Definitely time for an update.

MC Best of 2018: Student Work

Nothing MC loves more than posting killer graduating student portfolios. (Got to stay up on what the kids are getting into these days, you know.) MC had the honor of hosting both VCU Brandcenter and the University of Texas at Austin graduating classes in 2018, and both were fantastic.

Sara Muchnick

sara

Sara is a new copywriter at DDB in San Francisco and a recent graduate of Miami Ad School. First thing you’ll notice is that she’s redesigned her Squarespace site to look like a Spotify page (above). How cool is that? Cool. Super interesting mix of projects on her site, including Kanye West’s platform for his 2020 run, U.S. of Ye. One can only imagine.

Saurabh Kejriwal

lenore

Saurabh is a freelance copywriter in Berlin, originally from India. What a cool portfolio. His work is organized into pages titled Innovation, Digital, Film, Integrated, Print, and Personal (though some projects are featured on multiple pages). Don’t miss his odes to skirts, shirts, trousers, scarves and socks for Lenor (above). Super fun.

Dan Goldgeier

containertwo

Dan is a freelance senior copywriter and Talent Zoo columnist in Seattle. His site features projects for a wide variety of clients (as one would expect from the portfolio of a long-time freelancer) in addition to a couple of books. “View From The Cheap Seats” is a collection of Dan’s favorite Talent Zoo columns. “Killer Executions And Scrubbed Decks” is a book about the most obnoxious advertising jargon. Described by Dan: “Scope Creep. Curation. Deliverable. Pain Point. And more. All the nonsensical terms used in our industry, conveniently defined.” MC thinks that’s a real win-win.

Corey Rosenberg

yelp

Corey is a copywriter/CD in San Francisco. Every creative has heard (more than once) that advertising is a mix of art and business. In Corey’s case, so is his portfolio site. In addition to his projects, he’s also got merchandise and educational videos for sale, which anyone can purchase right off the site. Also, don’t miss his Testimonials page. That’s a lot of love.

Cameron Templeton

audible

Cameron is a copywriter/CD at 22squared in Atlanta. So many killer projects on his site for amazing brands like Patrón, Rolex, Toyota, SunTrust, Mountain Dew, Under Armour, Comic Con, Sony, and Audible (above). Don’t miss his Patrón VR bee, which tells the story of Patrón through the eyes of a bee “chasing an agave plant as it’s harvested and transformed into tequila.” Drone, Patrón, Mexico. Nice to meet you, best project ever.

Bowen Mendelson

coke

Bowen is a copywriter/CD in Atlanta, previously at Fitzgerald & Co., on the hunt for his next big thing. All kinds of killer projects on his site, including Huggies Baby Making Radio Station, a creepy spot for BP Driver Rewards (how the heck did they sell that through?), and 1,000+ unique songs for Coke’s 1,000 Name Celebration (including Jason, thank you very much). Love it.

Michael Crawford

love

Michael is a new copywriter in NYC on the hunt for his first full-time gig. A self-described “do-gooder,” his portfolio is loaded with do-good projects, spec and produced, from Instagram 911 to #lovemustwin for Freedom to Marry (above). His site is hosted on Squarespace and visitors can scroll the whole thing without a click (cool). Can’t wait to see where he lands!

Portfolio: dmcrawford.com

Samar Singh

pacman

Samar is a new copywriter and a recent graduate of Miami Ad School (interning at DDB Berlin at the time of this post). What a student puts in their book can tell a lot about them. Spec can be anything. So it’s cool to see a student book like Samar’s that’s not only got all kinds of fun ideas in it, but ideas that would make the world a better place. High-five.

Bari Khan

creature

Bari is a copywriter at DigitasLbi in San Francisco. His site is loaded with gaming projects for titles like Shadows of the Colossus, The Last Guardian, Until Dawn, and Horizon: Hero Dawn – The Watchers. For the latter, Bari’s team brought the game to life by literally bringing Watchers to life at E3 (above). Fingers crossed he gets to borrow it for Halloween.

Portfolio: bariakhan.com

Hampus Elfström

scouts

Hampus is a junior copywriter at Uncle Grey in Copenhagen, Denmark, after graduating from Miami Ad School and interning at agencies in San Francisco and NYC. All kinds of super cool ideas on his site, including The Book By Strangers (so smart), Dumb Laws Of America (so dumb), and Girl Scouts “The Original Hustlers” (above). Dig it.

University of Texas at Austin Week

Summons_seal_BW

Big ups to Katie Samuelson and the one and only Chad Rea, amazing Austin writer/CD (and good friend to MC), who helped MC put together University of Texas at Austin Week. So many amazing creatives get their start at UT, one of the few traditional universities with a legit advertising program (along with VCU and Oregon). Can’t wait to see where this year’s grads land!

University of Texas at Austin Week: Charlotte Lichtenheld

cats

Charlotte is a new copywriter and a recent grad of the University of Texas at Austin’s Texas Creative program. The first two campaigns in her portfolio (at the time of this post) are exactly what you want from a student book: a stupid simple strategic hook and outrageous execution. “Families That Murder Together, Stay Together” for Clue, and “Premium Nip for Premium Pets” for Yeowww! Catnip. Ridiculous.

University of Texas at Austin Week: Angela Dai

texas

Angela is a new art director and a recent graduate of the University of Texas at Austin’s Texas Creative program. Sometimes you click through a portfolio and you can just tell—this person had so much fun making this creative. Amazing energy in all of Angela’s work. Be sure to check out her Illustration and Future pages. Awesome.

University of Texas at Austin Week: Chelsea Tijerina

0fa06865-fa94-484d-8198-2325ef5d5768_rw_1200

Chelsea is a new art director/designer and a recent grad of the University of Texas at Austin Texas Creative program. Her site’s URL is “Chelsea’s Headspace” and that’s exactly what you get—to see in her head, with brilliant campaign ideas for brands like A Pea In The Pod, BBC, Arizona Tourism, Rosetta Stone, and Twitch, in addition to other pages (click “Art”) of super smart design, sketches & illustration, and 3-D design. Love it.
