Prashant Nashi

rockmycut

Prashant is a freelance sr copywriter in Chicago. You know, when MC used to think of Supercuts, MC thought $8. Or, now it’s probably like $20. (Who is MC kidding? It’s exactly $20 at the Supercuts in Corte Madera, CA.) So, it’s refreshing to see a Supercuts campaign featuring up-and-coming rock stars/DJs that doesn’t mention price. Probably pretty awesome for Supercutters out there, too. Nice.

Creative Circus | Fall 2013

2010-Circus-Logo-

Last month, MC posted Circus Adoptions—a site created by Creative Circus grads to help them find jobs. Since then, Circus grad PJ Que reached out to MC about getting the rest of the Fall 2013 CW grads posted. To which MC responds, “Absolutely.” And so, ladies and gentlemen, MC is honored to present the sites of 10 Fall 2013 Creative Circus graduating copywriters (in alphabetical order):

David Cappolino – davidcappolino.com

Allan Eakin – allaneakin.com

Will Isom – willisom.com

Spike McClinton – spikemcclinton.com

Aidan McKiernan – aidanmckiernan.com

Emily Miller – emilymillercopywriter.com

Dang Phan – dangphan.com

Stefanie Powers – stefaniewithanf.com

Patrick Que – itbeginswithaQ.com

Alex Schaeffer

pixels

Alex is a freelance copywriter in NYC. He’s also a magician who recorded himself doing a trick a day for one full year. (Click ‘The Sleight Ascent’ for more about that.) Warning: lots of work on his site for Big Mac. Lots of photos of Big Macs. If you’re hungry, and it’s getting close to lunchtime, and you love McDonald’s fries as much as MC, might want to hold off going through Alex’s site until later.

UPDATE: Jordan Dontos

teeth

Jordan is a copywriter/ACD at Slingshot in Dallas. Since his last post on MC (08.05.2010), he’s got a new Cargo site and all kinds of new work up on it. Including a campaign for Warheads, featuring “The Teeth.” MC imagines what it was like being the set designer, getting that call. “So, like, there’s like this giant mouth, and like, two of the teeth are people, Sour Tooth and Sweet Tooth …”

UPDATE: Jason Corbin

hairitage_PROOFED6_small_1000

Since Jason’s last post on MC (10/07/11), he’s gone from mcgarrybowen to Razorfish to his current gig, copywriter/ACD at Ogilvy in Atlanta. (Nice.) His site is still Cargo, MC’s fave for CWs, but he’s got all kinds of new work up. Like Change Your Hairitage for Aussie, above.

Lyle Shemer

Screen-Shot-2013-09-14-at-6.58.55-AM

Lyle is a copywriter/ACD at JWT NYC, BBDO and Dentsu before that. Lots of work for big brands like NFL, Listerine, Pepcid, DirecTV, Canon, and Rolaids. Plenty of TV and video, too. But don’t miss Writerly One-Offs, a collection of long copy pieces Lyle’s done over the years. From Lyle’s site: “I’ve always loved long copy ads. But with all the impending doom surrounding the future of print, it seems every year there are fewer opportunities to write ads in this much-beloved genre. In any case, I hope the bunch here are as much fun for you to read as they were for me to craft.” Amen, brother.

Maria Snell

CapNCrunchPringles

Maria is a new copywriter at Leo Burnett in Chicago, after graduating from SMU last year where she was part of their Creative Method program. (Big ups!) Her book is currently all student/intern work, which MC loves to see. It takes more than a killer book to land a job at a shop like Leo Burnett Chicago, but it all starts with the portfolio.

Evan Dunn

41_bakeryc

Evan is a copywriter at Arnold Boston, been there since 2010. Little tangent here. After clicking through Evan’s site (good stuff!), MC kept going back to his Volvo Summer project. Is it completely cliché that MC now wants a 1966 Volvo P1800? Is it too “thirtysomething” Micheal Steadman? Probably. But that’s a NICE car.

UPDATE: Andrew Baker

Screen-shot-2012-03-17-at-11.45.56-PM

Andrew is a freelance copywriter/CD based in Los Angeles, available globally (previous MC post 3.19.12). He’s all about cars. His entire portfolio is cars — and when you scroll through it, you quickly realize he’s worked on just about every car brand out there. He recently traded in his old site for a new 2013 model (tumblr), so time for an MC update.

Julie Rutigliano

sunkistooh_cargo1

Julie is a senior copywriter at 360i NYC. She’s been a writer/CD in NYC since 2004, when she got her start at Mad Dogs & Englishmen. MC is always interested to see what CW’s include on their About Us pages. For example, personal recommendations. At the bottom of Julie’s About Us, she’s got two fantastic notes from Kash Sree and Noah Kerner. How do you beat that?

Otilia Dobrea

Screen-Shot-2013-08-13-at-7.16.53-AM

Otilia is a copywriter in NYC, graduated from Miami Ad School last year, spent nine months at Anomaly, and is now looking for her next gig. Her book is that new-copywriter mix of produced work and student spec, which MC thinks is awesome to see. What did Otilia create at M.A.S.? And then, what did she produce immediately after, at Anomaly? Check it out.

UPDATE: Brian Button

sneaks

Brian is a copywriter in San Francisco. Since his first post on MC (March 2012), he’s moved from AKQA to Digitas and added some new work for eBay and Taco Bell to his portfolio — including a series of shorts for eBay called “eBay Thanks You.” Sometimes a story needs more than 30 or 60 seconds, you know? Also, MC would like Jonathan Adler’s beach house, please.

Patrick Tamisiea

RAIT Print 1

Patrick is a new-ish copywriter in Los Angeles, after 10 years of performing sketch and improv comedy. (Again, says MC, comedians and drummers = the best copywriters.) There’s some hilarious stuff on his site, including a campaign for Ryan Airlines: “With prices this cheap, shut the f*ck up.” Nice. Don’t miss the video of 6-year-old Patrick called “All About Pat” at the bottom of the page Schedule a Kissing Consultation. MC was that kid, too.
