Brian Cleary

largeidea-4f603a6e1025bc6

Brian is a freelance senior copywriter in Los Angeles. Lots of web and print work on his Krop site, including several visual print campaigns for Yokohama tires. MC has received a bunch of emails lately asking the best way to find freelance writers based on location (including Los Angeles). All writers on MC are tagged with their location at the time of their post. So, all you have to do is scroll down the sidebar to the right until you reach LOCATION. Then find the city or country you’re looking for and click on it. Those writers will appear as their own page. That easy!

UPDATE: Adam Gothelf

santa

Adam is a San Francisco native at RPA in Los Angeles. Since his last post on MC (03.16.11), just after graduating from Miami Ad School in NYC, he’s done work for great shops all over the country and got a brand new portfolio to show for it. Including his 2013 holiday film for Honda, Santa’s New Sleigh. Santa drives a Honda!

Ricardo Duran

twerking

Ricardo is a copywriter at LatinWorks in Santa Monica, just finishing up his first year there. He’s got a rad mix of produced, spec, conceptual, and just fun stuff on his site. He’s also a drummer, and there’s a link to some of his music as well. (Once again proving MC’s theory that drummers and comedians make great copywriters.) Well done, Mr. Duran.

Troy is a copywriter/ACD at mOcean in Los Angeles. He and his team make awesome campaigns for movies (Thor 2, Gravity, We Are The Millers, Star Trek Into Darkness, etc.) and TV (The Americans, Legit, The Bridge, Justified, etc.), and are helping to launch the new FX network, FXX. MC would like Troy’s job, please.

UPDATE: Andrew Baker

Screen-shot-2012-03-17-at-11.45.56-PM

Andrew is a freelance copywriter/CD based in Los Angeles, available globally (previous MC post 3.19.12). He’s all about cars. His entire portfolio is cars — and when you scroll through it, you quickly realize he’s worked on just about every car brand out there. He recently traded in his old site for a new 2013 model (tumblr), so time for an MC update.

Patrick Tamisiea

RAIT Print 1

Patrick is a new-ish copywriter in Los Angeles, after 10 years of performing sketch and improv comedy. (Again, says MC, comedians and drummers = the best copywriters.) There’s some hilarious stuff on his site, including a campaign for Ryan Airlines: “With prices this cheap, shut the f*ck up.” Nice. Don’t miss the video of 6-year-old Patrick called “All About Pat” at the bottom of the page Schedule a Kissing Consultation. MC was that kid, too.

Phil Eichenauer

leap

Phil is a copywriter/creative director in Los Angeles. He’s done a ton of work for the film industry (awesome) — posters, trailers, sites, etc. He displays most of his work on tilt viewer, which has its pros and cons. Pros, you can click through it quickly. Cons, it’s hard for MC to snap a straight-up screen shot of a piece of work without a cursor smack in the middle of it. (Arrrg, tilt viewer!) Still, very cool to see a CW having fun with the movies in LaLa. Good times.

Charlie Noback

Charlie is a freelance copywriter/CD in Los Angeles. As a full-time freelancer, he’s added a couple of little extras to his site that are pretty key. Check out this Testimonials link. He’s got 10+ quotes, not too long, super easy to nav, that say a lot about him. His contact info (phone and email) are right up top, in a universal header. And his About Us page is no-nonsense, just the facts. A very clean, well-organized, hard-working site. Nice.

UPDATE: Howard Hill

Howard is a senior CW in Los Angeles. Since his last post on MC (03.28.11) he’s updated from Krop to Cargo and added some killer new work, including pieces for Sony’s Xperia Studio and Americans Elect. About the latter, from Howard: “We tried to use the internet to nominate a president. That one didn’t work out but it was worth a shot because someone’s going to do it eventually.”

Dave Carlson

Dave is a copywriter in Los Angeles. The first item in his portfolio is Inspiration Trip: “In 2011, my wife and I left Los Angeles with a one-way ticket to Istanbul and traveled the world. We were gone for 264 nights and slept in 72 different beds.” (Beds above.) Dave’s back in L.A., currently freelancing at Mistress. MC’s #1 2013 resolution: some kind of Inspiration Trip. Even it’s 2 nights instead of 264.

Chris Gilbert

Chris will be graduating from Art Center College of Design this Saturday, December 15th. (His site was submitted by fellow student Brenton Covington—thanks, Brenton.) First, a huge congrats to Chris from MC on graduating. Love it. Second, it’s not often that Art Center College of Design graduates a copywriter, which makes his site even more interesting to check out. Again, love it.

UPDATE: Matt Heath

Matt is a copywriter/Creative Executive at CAA in Los Angeles. He’s been busy since his last MC post about a year ago, including a stint on the writing team of Eastbound & Down Season 3, stemming from the ad work he did for the show. (Awesome.) Don’t miss his Fake Craigslist Ads, especially the last one, “I don’t like the baby we adopted (Beverly Hills)” and his subsequent visit from non-fake police detectives. Hilarious.

Agustin Sanchez

Agustin is a new CW grad from Art Center College of Design (today, actually—congrats, Agustin!). Don’t miss his “Heal The Bay – Ditch The Bag” campaign, which is heavily influenced by the recent popularity of literary erotica for women and movies about male strippers. Not kidding.
